PM Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day speech, said 125 crore vaccine doses for Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) have been administered to cloven-footed animals in India. FMD is a severe, highly contagious viral disease of livestock. It causes fever, blisters in mouth and on feet, drooling and lameness. It can spread rapidly through direct contact equipment or contaminated materials.
