All passports issued in India since May 28, 2025, are e-passports, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday. Over 80 lakh e-passports have been issued so far, with the government aiming to chip all Indian passports by 2035. It contains an RFID chip embedded with a smart card memory and has undergone composite certification as per international standards.
