India has rejected a US State Department report which highlighted "serious" human rights issues in the country. Calling the report 'misrepresented' and 'biased', Ministry of External Affairs said, "[It demonstrates] poor understanding of India's democratic framework...and robust institutional mechanisms for protecting human rights." Notably, India has consistently rejected such reports by US.
