The Uttarakhand High Court, while hearing a petition challenging provisions of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) especially those pertaining to live-in relationships, asked what is wrong in regulating such relationships. "What happens if this relationship breaks up? What if there is a child out of this relationship?" the court asked and said registration would help in proving paternity.
