The International Astronomical Union has named a surface feature on deep space asteroid Donaldjohanson 'Narmada', honouring the Narmada Valley, where Homo erectus narmadensis fossils were found. The asteroid, between Mars and Jupiter, flew past by NASA's Lucy spacecraft in April. It links India's paleoanthropological significance to asteroid exploration, celebrating discoveries of human evolution.
