Poor urban planning could leave millions without clean water by 2050, a study has warned. If cities keep expanding horizontally, 220 million people may lose access to clean piped water and 190 million to sewage services, Newsweek reported. Sprawling development also raises water service costs, while compact, vertical city growth could significantly improve the situation, researchers suggested.
