IPL 2025 auction is a 'mega auction', with franchises being given an opportunity to rebuild squads. A 'mega auction' takes place every three-four years. In mega auction, teams are allowed to retain a small number of players (six this time). In other years, in between mega auctions, teams can retain as many players as they like before 'mini auction'.
