On Wednesday, Midcap index soared by 223 points, finishing at 53,899 level, though it closed off its highs. Despite this, it was able to outperform both Sensex and Nifty. Nifty Bank closed slightly up by 23 points to close at 48,752 level. Top gainers in the Nifty50 index were Trent, NTPC, Power Grid Corp, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Coal India.
