India has 1 doctor per 811 people, the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav stated in a written reply in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. He stated that there are 13,86,150 registered allopathic doctors and 7,51,768 registered AYUSH practitioners in India. Notably, WHO recommends a doctor-to-population ratio of 1:1000.
