Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Russia respects India's independent foreign policy being pursued by PM Narendra Modi. He asserted that India's ties with the US or any other country cannot be a benchmark for New Delhi-Moscow ties. Lavrov said this on being asked about India continuing to import Russian oil despite US' pressure on nations to reduce such purchases.
