Australia defended a 2.5 billion AUD deal with Pacific island nation of Nauru to deport hundreds of non-citizens over next 30 years. The deportees, denied refugee visas due to criminal convictions, will receive 30-year work visas in Nauru. Despite criticisms from human rights groups over past neglect and suicides, Australia insists that living standards and health facilities meet good standards.
