Sensex ended 368 points higher to close at 78,507.41 in the first session of 2025 while Nifty jumped 98 points to end at 23,742.90. This comes after the Indian markets opened flat on Wednesday morning. Sensex jumped as much as 600 points during the day owing to a rise in auto, banking, media and FMCG sector stocks.
