After clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan led to the deaths of several Pakistani soldiers, minister Khawaja Asif confirmed that Pakistan is open to mediation by US President Donald Trump. "The US has sponsored wars, and he [Trump] is the first president to negotiate peace. If he wants to look into the Pakistan-Afghanistan war, he is most welcome," he said.
