Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW) clarified gratuity payment rules for 2025, stating that the ₹25 lakh maximum limit applies only to central government civil servants covered by the CCS (Pension) Rules 2021 or CCS (Payment of Gratuity under NPS) Rules 2021. The limit will not apply to employees of PSUs, banks, RBI, autonomous institutions, universities, or state governments.
