While discussing the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025, in Lok Sabha Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the states have asked for a 50% share in central taxes. "This is for Finance Commission to decide…no state will get less than what…[it] decides," she added. "This is not a new law…not something that Centre is taking away," she said on the bill.
