Director Shoojit Sircar revealed he first approached late actor Om Puri for the doctor's role played by Annu Kapoor in 'Vicky Donor'. "He was a little disoriented...He said, 'Script is fine, but you'll make this in Bollywood?'" recalled Shoojit. He said Puri was uncomfortable with the subject of a sperm donor and this would've caused problem for him during shooting.
