The Calcutta High Court cancelled the membership of TMC leader Mukul Roy from the West Bengal Legislative Assembly under the anti-defection law. Roy frequently switched parties before finally returning to the TMC in 2021, even after winning on a BJP ticket in the Assembly elections. The court acted upon petitions submitted by LoP Suvendu Adhikari and BJP MLA Ambika Roy.
