Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao defended his remarks after receiving criticism for his comments that VD Savarkar was not against cow slaughter as he himself was a non-vegetarian who ate beef. "Sorry for speaking the truth...This is what Savarkar said to the British," Rao said. "[Savarkar] was an atheist...and he also did not believe in cow worship," he added.
