West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose launched 'Abhaya Plus' scheme under which self-defence courses will be organised for girls in the state. The scheme was reportedly conceptualised by Bose himself and comes after the rape-murder of a woman doctor of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The victim was given the name 'Abhaya' by protesting doctors.
