To tackle floods this monsoon season, BMC will deploy 417 dewatering pumps across Mumbai and has identified 386 flood-prone spots. The 417 dewatering pumps are fewer than 482 deployed last year. Additional Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has emphasized all pumping systems must be fully functional and warned of strict accountability for irregularities in desilting.
