PM Narendra Modi, talking about government's tax cuts announced in Budget, said if a person earned ₹12 lakh under India's first PM Jawaharlal Nehru's rule, they'd pay one-fourth as tax. You'd pay ₹10 lakh on earning ₹12 lakh annually under ex-PM Indira Gandhi, he said. Until 10-12 years ago under Congress' government, you'd still pay ₹2.6-lakh tax, he added.
