Hundreds of widowed women living in ashrams across Uttar Pradesh's Vrindavan celebrated Diwali at Gopinath Temple on Wednesday. The event aimed to challenge centuries-old belief that widows are “inauspicious” and shouldn't participate in festivities. During the event, these women lighted diyas, sang devotional songs, and shared sweets. "This Diwali is special for us," said one of the participants.
