A massive 5,00,000-km-wide butterfly-shaped hole has appeared on the Sun's surface. Captured by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory on September 11, the coronal hole is spewing a stream of solar wind toward Earth, Spaceweather reported. The region appears dark because the hot plasma that usually fills it is absent.
