Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah said fresh caste census will be conducted in the state between September 22 and October 7 at an estimated cost of ₹420 crore. He said since the last exercise was carried out a decade ago, a new survey had become essential to capture present realities of society. Survey will be conducted "scientifically," with 60-question questionnaire, he added.
