Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while responding to TMC's question about why is Centre not releasing MGNREGA funds to the West Bengal government, said that Bengal government had broken down large projects into smaller parts to benefit certain individuals. "Allocation of funds under MGNREGA can be withheld if the central funds are not used appropriately," Chouhan added.
