The Consumer Affairs Department has proposed making it mandatory for e-commerce platforms to provide searchable and sortable filters for 'country of origin' with their product listings. The rule will empower consumers and bring transparency in online shopping, the department said. It will also assist in monitoring compliance, verifying product information and identifying violations, it added.
