The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has registered a victory in the mayoral election in Chandigarh. BJP candidate Harpreet Kaur Babla will now become the new mayor of Chandigarh. The BJP secured 19 votes in the 36-member House, while the AAP-Congress alliance won 17 votes. Three councillors from the Opposition alliance cross-voted in favour of the BJP, according to reports.
