Doctors say weightlifting can be safe during pregnancy for women with prior experience, but only under strict medical supervision, and provided there are no complications. "Strength training can decrease the chance of cesarean birth and help in smooth delivery," says Dr Asha Dalal of Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, Mumbai. She suggests 150 minutes of moderate-intensity workout every week.
