Former Bangladesh Prime Minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia was reportedly acquitted by a court in connection with the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case. The 79-year-old leader was sentenced to seven years in jail by a lower court in 2018. She was reportedly accused of abusing power to raise funds for the trust from unknown sources.
