Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has proposed renaming Bengaluru's Namma Metro to Basava Metro as a tribute to the 12th-century social reformer Basavanna. Speaking at an event on Sunday, CM Siddaramaiah said he will send the proposal to the central government, as the metro is jointly funded by both centre and state governments. Basavanna's principles are eternal and relevant, he added.
