Scientists may have detected dark matter for the first time using NASA's Fermi gamma-ray space telescope. Researchers led by Tomonori Totani observed the Milky Way's centre, where dark matter is thought to cluster. They detected high-energy gamma rays, around 20 billion electronvolts, forming a halo-like structure. Researchers said the emission closely matches predictions for a dark matter halo.
