Numbness in the hand is caused by various reasons, said Dr Anup Khatri, senior consultant, orthopaedics, Gleneagles Hospital. "One of them is carpal tunnel syndrome, where the median nerve located in the wrist tends to get compressed...Peripheral neuropathy which is a common occurrence due to diabetes or vitamin deficiencies can [also] lead to hand numbness," he added.
