A French court sentenced eight people to jail in connection with the beheading of teacher Samuel Paty, who had shown caricatures of Prophet Mohammad in a class debate on freedom of expression. The court handed down prison terms ranging from one to 16 years to the accused. Paty was killed by a Chechen assailant in October 2020 over prophet's cartoons.
