After the US sought clarity from its allies Australia and Japan over their role in the event of a war by China in Taiwan, Australia has stated it will not commit its troops in advance in any conflict. "The decision to commit Australian troops to a conflict will be made by the government of the day," Minister Pat Conroy said.
