September Equinox that marks the beginning of the fall season for the Northern Hemisphere is taking place today. It occurs when the Sun is directly above the Equator. The term 'Equinox' comes from Latin words aequus (equal) and nox (night). At the equinox, days and nights are said to be almost equal in length for everyone across the globe.
