When whisky is stored in wooden casks, it ages, developing deeper flavours thus raising its market value. Investors purchase these casks early on from distilleries and hold them for years as they mature. Once the casks are worth more than their purchase price, the difference between the buying and selling price becomes the profit, a Moneycontrol report said.
