A recent study led by University of Washington suggested that reducing particulate air pollutants has accelerated global warming. It analysed the clouds over the Northeastern Pacific and Atlantic oceans between 2003 and 2022 and found that marine clouds, which regulate global temperature, have lost reflectivity due to fewer aerosols, allowing more sunlight to reach Earth and raising temperatures.
