The Indian rupee plunged to a record low of 89.48 against the US dollar on Friday, breaching its previous all-time low of 88.8 hit in late September. Steep US tariffs on India and uncertainty over the potential US-India trade deal contributed to the decline of the rupee. Reduced expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut also fuelled the dip.
