Union Cabinet announced the formation of 8th Pay Commission with Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai as its Chairperson. She was born on October 30, 1949 and obtained her law degree from Bombay's Government Law College in 1973. Desai was elevated as a Judge of Supreme Court in 2011. She headed the bench that confirmed death penalty for 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab.
