Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing a gathering in Gujarat on Hindi Diwas, said, "Hindi isn't a competition...but a friend to all Indian languages." He added that Gujarat, though a Gujarati-speaking state, is a best example of Hindi and Gujarati coexisting. "We've a place for Hindi in our education system...which is why students of Gujarat get recognition across India," he said.
