NCRB in its recent 'Accidental Deaths & Suicides in India 2023' report released data showing that a total of 4,64,029 road accident cases were recorded in 2023, which led to 1,73,826 deaths. Majority (61.4%) of road accidents were due to over speeding that accounted for 1,01,841 deaths, which is around 280 lives daily on an average.
