Kandar, a tribal village in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun district, has passed a resolution restricting women from wearing more than three gold ornaments for weddings and other social events. The resolution mandates that women may wear only a mangalsutra (marital necklace), a nose ring, and earrings at public events and will have to pay a penalty of ₹50,000 on violating the rule.
