Former Defence Secretary Vijay Singh, over whose reappointment to Tata Sons board a standoff at Tata Trusts began, issued the first statement amid the row. He said trustee Mehli Mistry-led camp voted against his reappointment "for reasons that were apparently not spelt out". He further claimed he wasn't present at the meeting in which vote on his reappointment took place.
