An Arunachal Pradesh–born Indian-origin UK resident alleged that Chinese immigration officials harassed her at Shanghai Airport after refusing to recognise her Indian passport during transit. Prema Wangjom Thongdok said officers declared it "invalid", claiming "Arunachal is part of China". She was detained for 18 hours, mocked by staff and released only after Indian consulate's intervention.
