Ishaan Khatter spoke about being raised by his single mother Neelima Azeem, and respect he has for her after "seeing strife she went through." He recalled, "By the time my brother [Shahid Kapoor] grew up and was able to take care of himself, I was born." He added, "Mom [was] doubling up as both parents...sacrificed most of who she was."
