Citing a study, Dr Ranjan Shetty, Interventional Cardiologist at Manipal Hospitals, said sudden binge drinking increases irregular heartbeats over 48 hours. If a person who isn't used to alcohol binge drinks, these irregular rhythms may cause cardiac arrest. Consuming too much alcohol at once stretches, enlarges and weakens the heart and it doesn't pump blood as well as it should.
