PM Narendra Modi surpassed late ex-PM Indira Gandhi's record on Friday by delivering 12 consecutive speeches from the ramparts of Red Fort. Indira Gandhi delivered 16 addresses as PM on August 15, with 11 of them being consecutive. PM Modi now stands next to India's longest-serving PM Jawaharlal Nehru, who delivered 17 Independence Day addresses in a row.
