Police said five minor inmates at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Udyog Kendra observation home in Yerawada assaulted a 17‑year‑old boy after he refused to clean the bathroom, tearing a towel and attempting to strangle him around 9:15 pm on Tuesday. The victim was hospitalised and later discharged. An FIR under attempted murder and related charges is underway.
