What are 'ghost forests'?
short by Ankush Verma / on 01 Nov 2024,Friday
A ghost forest is a stand of dead trees and forms when ocean rises and floods coastal lands. When salty ocean water mixes with fresh water, salt content of water becomes too high for trees to tolerate and causes healthy forest to die. Trees can stand for a decade or longer after death, which lends ghost forests their spooky appearance.
