Congress termed the arrest of activist Sonam Wangchuk as "unwarranted" and called him "the most respectable person who believed in Gandhian ideology." Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir said the Ladakh administration mishandled the situation. "NDA government gave him permission for foreign funding and they revoked it now to show as if it was previous government that gave it," he said.
